Signs your ductwork is the real problem
You don't need to diagnose it yourself — but knowing what you're seeing makes the call easier.
One floor is always wrong
Hot upstairs, cold downstairs is a distribution problem far more often than an equipment problem.
Weak airflow from some vents
Crushed, disconnected or badly sized runs — very common in houses that have been renovated.
Dust that never lets up
Leaky return ducts pull dust from basements and wall cavities and blow it around the house.
Whistling or booming ducts
Undersized returns and pressure imbalance. Noticeable, annoying, and fixable.
Bathroom or kitchen fans that don't clear the air
Exhaust that terminates in an attic or a too-long flex run does very little.
A new system that underperforms
Good equipment on bad ductwork gives you bad results. The duct design has to match the system.
What we do on ventilation
- Custom sheet metal fabricationWe fabricate and install rather than subcontracting it out — one company, one standard.
- Duct repair and replacementSealing, re-running crushed sections, replacing failed flex with proper metal.
- Airflow balancingGetting the rooms that never worked to actually work.
- Bath and kitchen exhaustVented where it belongs, with the right fan for the run.
- Make-up and fresh airTighter houses need a plan for fresh air, not just an exhaust fan.
- Commercial ventilationRestaurants, shops and multi-unit buildings around Greater Boston.
Why this is worth doing right
Ductwork is the part nobody sees and almost nobody quotes carefully. It's also the reason plenty of homeowners end up disappointed with an expensive new system — the equipment was fine, the distribution wasn't.
Because sheet metal work is done in-house, we can look at the whole picture: the system, the duct design and the rooms you're actually unhappy with. Sometimes the fix is far smaller than you'd expect.
